Anderson future bleak for Manchester United

Brazilian midfielder Anderson’s future at Manchester United may appear very bleak as he does not appear to be in the plans of new manager Louis van Gaal.

The former FC Porto man spent the last season on loan at Fiorentina were he did not impress much. As a result, it has been speculated that he may be returning to Brazilian football at the end of the campaign. Since he is out of contract in the next six months, is free to negotiate terms with foreign clubs after December. The lack of a transfer fee will potentially excite several Brazilian clubs.

Anderson does not seem intent on leaving United in January, although it still remains a distinct possibility. After facing a severe drop in the latest financial results, United may consider selling some of the club’s lesser used players in order to reduce the wage bill and bring in revenue. Further, the prospect of getting at least a little in terms of transfer fee rather than nothing in the summer could also prove to be a lure. According to sources, the midfielder wants to spend the next six months at United playing under Louis van Gaal. The Dutchman has been no different in his treatment of Anderson compared to his predecessor, David Moyes.

The midfielder has got only 20 minutes of league action this campaign. United also do not have competition like the League Cup and Champions League in order to rotate the squad. After signing more than £ 150 million worth of talent in the summer, competition for places continues to be high at the club. Anderson will have little regrets after a great career at United that saw him lift numerous Premier League titles and one Champions League medal at a very young age. Still just 27, he still has a lot of time left in football.
