Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has dismissed concerns that some of the United players are unhappy in the dressing room due to a bad atmosphere.
Van Gaal has gone to the extent of stating the example of Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick. He says that both these big-name players approached him to request some slight modifications in training. According to Van Gaal, this demonstrates a great atmosphere within the dressing room since even the top players are able to approach him with their concerns. Questions have been raised about Van Gaal’s time at United.
The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona manager came with a huge reputation of winning trophieswherever he has been. United were unable to win the title last season. Even though they have returned back to the Champions League under the guidance of the Dutchman, they do not seem closer towards winning titles yet. United still seem to be in the transitional period with the club making numerous signings once again in the summer. There have been reports that players were unhappy with the training methods of the Dutchman, which is seen as too intense by some. Van Gaal has been a strict disciplinarian and he is unlikely to budge a lot towards the players wish for a relaxed training.
“Rooney and Carrick, the captains, came to me and said the dressing room is flat and they wanted to say that to me because they wanted to help me. And then I have played so much attention and then I communicate not with my captains, because they are trying to warn me, so I go to the dressing room and talk with my players.We have discussed a lot of aspects but not what some have written. I have a superb relationship with my players. Maybe you have to consider how many players are coming to the manager to say something,” said Van Gaal.
