The spotlight is back on Corinthians manager Tite

The spotlight is back on Corinthians manager Tite after he managed to lead the club to another Brazilian league title following a 4-1 victory over Atletico PR.

The recent win over Flamengo extended the advantage in the table to 10 points after 32 games. Tite was once a sought-after manager in European football after managing to get the FIFA Club World Cup title by beating Chelsea in the final. The European club are overwhelming favourites after having just won the Champions League six months ago, but they were completely outclassed by the Brazilian minnows.

A lot of the success was attributed down to the tactics of Tite. The manager recently signed a three-year contract with the club and he states that his immediate future is with the Brazilian club. However, he would like to join a European club in the near future. Tite has revealed that he had opportunities from the likes of Inter Milan but he turned them down in order to concentrate on his current work with Corinthians. Much of the focus towards the team goes to the defensive side and it was a major part in the success over Chelsea. Tite, though, is one that European football has a plethora of top managers and it would be difficult to succeed.

“In the future I would like to lead a national team, not necessarily of Brazil. I would like to coach Italy or Spain, but after 2018, when my deal with Corinthians ends. I have a three-year contract here, but stipulating that, each year, we can sit down and see what to do next season. In 2013, after winning the Club World Cup and Libertadores with Corinthians, an agent approached me with the chance to coach Inter Milan. But after that, he disappeared. I was busy with Corinthians, I couldn’t give up,” said Tite.
