ANDERSON UPDATE

The Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has updated to the media and the fans about the injury to the Brazilian midfielder Anderson. The former FC Porto midfielder recently returned to first team action and has been one of the best players for the club.

Even Ferguson admitted that he was extremely surprised by the way Anderson has been rejuvenated in recent weeks. However, he suffered an injury in the 4-3 win over Reading a few weeks back. Ferguson said at the time of the incident that he expected the midfielder to be out for the next 2 to 3 weeks.

This meant that Anderson would be back in time for the start of the crucial run of matches during the Christmas period. However, the manager has now confirmed that the player will be missing a much lengthier spell of matches due to the fact that his injury has been much worse than initially feared. Ferguson has said that Anderson had suffered a tear in the hamstring, which will keep him out of action for up to 2 months. It is expected that the 24-year-old will not only miss the Christmas period, but also the FA cup third-round match with West Ham as well.

This comes as a major injury blow to Ferguson, although the return of several players like Darren Fletcher and Paul Scholes to full fitness mean that it is unlikely to affect him at least in the near term. Anderson, though, was playing extremely well after a long time and he would be extremely angry with himself was picking up an injury at this stage in the season. There have been reports that the 24-year-old would be sent out on loan for him to revive his career, but the recent form suggests that he may have a future at Old Trafford.
