Brazil international Felipe Anderson is one of the top players in the world to have come out of Santos Academy.
The academy has produced football stars in various leagues in the world of recent. Barcelona’s Neymar, Robinho and Gabigol are examples. The 23-year old Anderson was in action at the recently concluded Rio Olympics, helping his country win their first ever gold medal in the men’s event.
Since joining Italian side Lazio, Anderson has struggled to make the developmental leap to the next level, but with the departure of Antonio Candreva and Miroslav Klose, he is set for stardom this term if he can live up to expectations. He joined Lazio in the summer of 2013 before Spanish and English clubs could sign him. He was supposed to be swapped for Italian calico but the deal couldn’t be completed.
Lazio knew he was talented, but they were at a loss on how to best use him under Stefano Pioli. He played in just 13 games in his first season, supplying just two assists. In his second year, he became more stable. He scored ten goals and has eight assists. The sophomore year turned out to be his breakthrough. He is one of the rising stars in world football.
After their third place finish before the 2015 season, they had dreams of appearing in the Champions League but they lost 3-1 on aggregate to Bayern Leverkusen in the play-offs. Last season, they performed poorly finishing in eight position. They lost out in the Round of 16 stage in the Europa League as well. Anderson could only get seven goals and five assists all season, yet still warding off interests in him. Acting coach Simone Inzaghi has made a few changes ahead of the new season. The player missed out on the five uncapped players’ list Brazilian national team coach Tite added to the senior team after their Olympic success. He is set to lead the Lazio squad as they continue in the Serie A.
According to the latest reports from Football Italia, Felipe Anderson’s agent has slammed a €50m price tag on the player, as interests in the player continue to increase.
The initial interests in the player from English giants Manchester United might have reduced over the past 18 months, but the report claims there are other clubs interested in the player.
The 23-year old Brazilian is reported to be excited at the prospects of playing in the Olympics when his country begins the event. His sister and agent told Correios.com in Brazil that:
“He will cost any club €50m. He is a complete player, but still needs to improve a little bit to fully prove what he can do.”
Felipe Anderson, who is in the preliminary Brazil squad for the Olympics in Rio this summer, said he has worked very hard for two years with the squad. He adds that there’s a lot of competition but that he has always found playing time, so he believes he would take part in the tournament when it begins.
However, there are concerns that his club might not release him for the games. On that he said:
“Lazio aren’t very happy, as the tournament is played just before the start of the season, but it is the dream of any athlete to take part in the Olympics, especially in my home nation, in front of friends and family.
He insists the he would be able to get the required permission from his club to live his dreams when the Olympics games begin.
The transfer price tag might come off as outrageous for the budding player but his agent insists that the fee would be in that region. With the open interests in other players, it is unlikely that the Red Devils will sign him anytime soon.
Former QPR defender Anton Ferdinand has praised Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli as one of the most promising in English football right now.
The progress made by the youngster has been spectacular. It was only recently that he played for Championship outfit MK Dons. Now, though, he has grown into one of the finest midfielders in the Premier league. The rate of transformation has been amazing, but Ferdinand reckons that one of the attributes that makes Alli successful is his ability to read the game. Even thoughAlli may look like running around a lot, Ferdinand believes that Alli is reading the game with incredible precision.
Such has been the progress made by the Tottenham midfielder that he has now been spoken of as the main threat in the England national team, which is an amazing aspect considering that he is only 20 years old. Ferdinand was also one of the promising youngsters when he was coming through the ranks at West Ham. However, his career has not progressed in similar fashion and he last represented Reading in the Championship. After having just been crowned as the PFA Young Player of the Year, Dele Alli will be looking to continue the progress with some impressive performances at the Euro 2016.
Ferdinand is currently without a club after leaving Reading following the expiry of his contract. He is searching for a new club at 31 years of age after having represented the likes of Sunderland, QPR, West Ham, and lesser known clubs like Police United.”He’s got no fear factor and he looks like he understands the game. He doesn’t run around like a headless chicken. He actually understands the game which, for someone of his age, can only bode well and I think he’s got a bright, bright future,” said Ferdinand.
Manchester United summer transfer target Felipe Anderson, says he will not be leaving his current club, Lazio as the season ends.
The Red Devils have been trying to sign the Lazio star since last summer and reportedly opened talks on a deal in March.
According to reports, United are willing to pay up to £39m to land Anderson but he looks set to stay at Lazio – at least until 2017. The winger’s sister and agent Juliana Gomes said:
“My brother won’t be leaving Rome during next summer.”
Anderson, under contract at the Stadio Olimpico until 2020, has struggled to reach the highs of last season scoring just seven times and providing four assists. The Brazilian had been a prime candidate for a summer exit after failure to qualify for the Europa League. It was reported that Lazio snubbed a £37.6m (€50m) offer last summer and sporting director Igli Tare has previously admitted that could have been an error.
“Yes, it could’ve been a mistake not to sell anyone, but I can say that the idea to refuse €50m (£37.6m) for Felipe Anderson was because we strongly wanted to give consistency to this project,” Tare said.
In March, Anderson played down speculation linking him with a move to Old Trafford.
“There’s nothing concrete,” Anderson said.
“They are rumours that circulate in the newspapers.
The talented player who just turned 23 and this season contributed nine goals and five assists in 45 competitive games added:
“The often write about my possible departure but I’m staying here.”
Manchester United hoped to add the player as reinforcements ahead of their campaign next season especially after missing a second successive UEFA champions League qualification, making the second in three years. They are currently sixth in the Premier League log and hope to move up after their last game against AFC Bournemouth.
There was once a time when Anderson had the chance to take the world under his control as the Brazilian player was labeled as the next big thing of Brazil with the media hyping him up so much that Manchester United splashed out €30 million in signing him when Anderson was only 19 years old.
Anderson’s time in Manchester United wasn’t a very impressive one as he only scored 5 goals in 105 appearances and the Premier League club started to lose faith in the Brazilian player, this is why Anderson was dropped to the sidelines in his last few seasons at Old Trafford.
It’s been a little over 1 year since Anderson joined the Brazilian side Internacional and even though he has returned to his native homeland, he continues struggling to spark his career back to life.
Anderson made his debut for Internacional during a match they had against Cruzeiro and in his opening appearance for his new club, he missed a penalty kick that could have given his team the victory. The 27 year old player was also sent out of the pitch after receiving a red card, this occurred after the Brazilian was mad for being ruled off and Anderson launched a string of insults and the referee showed him a straight red card.
The Brazilian player was even seen struggling just to breath after playing a match in Bolivia in a game that was played at 3,600 meters above sea level and this high altitude affected Anderson so much that he had to take oxygen on the bench.
All of these things have been occurring to Anderson who never truly managed to live up to the hype of the media and the expectations that were created some time ago and even after having made a move away from Manchester United, things haven’t changed very much.
Manchester United sustained their 3rd successive defeat in all competitions after losing against Norwich City on December 19 when both sides faced off against each other at Old Trafford.
Cameron Jerome and Alexander Tettey put the scoreboard 2-0 in favor of Norwich City and despite a 2nd half goal from Anthony Martial, it wasn’t enough for Manchester United to avoid dropping more points in their race for the Premier League title.
These string of defeats are disastrous not only for Manchester United as they are getting further behind from the top spots of the English League but it’s also a disaster for Louis van Gaal as the Dutchman is on the verge of being axed or at least that’s what the rumors are claiming.
After being axed by Chelsea, Jose Mourinho is now setting his sights on what club he is planning to manage and he has revealed a big interest in taking charge of Manchester United.
If these negative results continue arriving, it’s only a matter of time until Louis van Gaal sees his way out of Old Trafford and it’s even believed that Manchester United are already in search of their next manager and sources claim that Carlo Ancelotti as well as Pep Guardiola have been targeted by the Premier League club as possible successors to Louis van Gaal.
Losing against teams which are located in the bottom section of the Premier League is simply unacceptable and Louis van Gaal has to do something to change things around or else, the head chiefs of Manchester United will simply replace him with someone else and there are a plethora of management options that are available.
It’s do or die for the Dutch coach.
The spotlight is back on Corinthians manager Tite after he managed to lead the club to another Brazilian league title following a 4-1 victory over Atletico PR.
The recent win over Flamengo extended the advantage in the table to 10 points after 32 games. Tite was once a sought-after manager in European football after managing to get the FIFA Club World Cup title by beating Chelsea in the final. The European club are overwhelming favourites after having just won the Champions League six months ago, but they were completely outclassed by the Brazilian minnows.
A lot of the success was attributed down to the tactics of Tite. The manager recently signed a three-year contract with the club and he states that his immediate future is with the Brazilian club. However, he would like to join a European club in the near future. Tite has revealed that he had opportunities from the likes of Inter Milan but he turned them down in order to concentrate on his current work with Corinthians. Much of the focus towards the team goes to the defensive side and it was a major part in the success over Chelsea. Tite, though, is one that European football has a plethora of top managers and it would be difficult to succeed.
“In the future I would like to lead a national team, not necessarily of Brazil. I would like to coach Italy or Spain, but after 2018, when my deal with Corinthians ends. I have a three-year contract here, but stipulating that, each year, we can sit down and see what to do next season. In 2013, after winning the Club World Cup and Libertadores with Corinthians, an agent approached me with the chance to coach Inter Milan. But after that, he disappeared. I was busy with Corinthians, I couldn’t give up,” said Tite.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has dismissed concerns that some of the United players are unhappy in the dressing room due to a bad atmosphere.
Van Gaal has gone to the extent of stating the example of Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick. He says that both these big-name players approached him to request some slight modifications in training. According to Van Gaal, this demonstrates a great atmosphere within the dressing room since even the top players are able to approach him with their concerns. Questions have been raised about Van Gaal’s time at United.
The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona manager came with a huge reputation of winning trophieswherever he has been. United were unable to win the title last season. Even though they have returned back to the Champions League under the guidance of the Dutchman, they do not seem closer towards winning titles yet. United still seem to be in the transitional period with the club making numerous signings once again in the summer. There have been reports that players were unhappy with the training methods of the Dutchman, which is seen as too intense by some. Van Gaal has been a strict disciplinarian and he is unlikely to budge a lot towards the players wish for a relaxed training.
“Rooney and Carrick, the captains, came to me and said the dressing room is flat and they wanted to say that to me because they wanted to help me. And then I have played so much attention and then I communicate not with my captains, because they are trying to warn me, so I go to the dressing room and talk with my players. We have discussed a lot of aspects but not what some have written. I have a superb relationship with my players. Maybe you have to consider how many players are coming to the manager to say something,” said Van Gaal.
Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea concluded a brilliant campaign by winning the club’s Player of the Year award.
He had been one of the most consistent players in the Premier League. Despite a season in which the club could only finish in the top four, De Gea was nominated for the individual awards at the end of the campaign. He failed to overhaul the likes of Harry Kane and Eden Hazard for these awards, but he was much more successful in the club’s in-house awards ceremony. After he was named as the club’s Player of the Year, his rival for the number one spot – Andres Lindegaard – came out with a congratulatory message.
The future of Lindegaard at United had become almost non-existent. The player did not feature for much of the campaign under Louis van Gaal, as the club signed Victor Valdes on a free transfer back in January. Even though there is a lot of speculation surrounding the future ofDe Gea, it is widely anticipated that Lindegaard will leave the club in the summer. In the past two seasons, the Danish goalkeeper has featured in only three matches over all competitions. This poor record is unlikely to see his contract renewed and even the player is unlikely to be interested in renewal.
“Big congrats to @D_DeGea for winning players player of the year – in my eyes the most prestigious award. Very well deserved my friend!” said Lindegaard on his Twitter account. Even the prospect of the Spaniard leaving the club in the upcoming summer transfer window is unlikely to persuade Lindegaard to stay at Old Trafford. After a fantastic campaign De Gea, has been linked with a move to Real Madrid. This will see him return to his hometown and it is something that he is thought to be extremely keen on.
Wes Brown has always been seen as somebody who puts forward his views quite bluntly and yesterday too, he said something which not many players would have said on a public forum.
Brown called the 26-year old current Red Devils’ defender Anderson an Unintelligent player.
According to Brown, out of all the players that he has met or played with so far, he has found nobody lesser intelligent than Anderson.
Brown also disclosed that despite having spent more than 7 years in England, Anderson still finds it difficult to talk to people in the English language fluently and he put it down to the Brazilian’s reluctance or disinterest in learning the language.
In a personal interview last week, Brown was asked to pick a former teammate of his whom he considers least intelligent.
He immediately came up with Anderson’s name.
In the words of Brown, “It’s Anderson for sure. He has been here in England for so long and I doubt if he is able to converse with people in English. At least till the time I was there, he could not do with English properly.”
Brown answered several other questions too there in that interview.
When asked to pick a game that he cherishes the most and will always cherish, the former defender said, “I would say the European Cup title match in the 2007-08 Season.”
“That season, as a whole, was pretty good for me actually. I had been very useful for the club as right back and we beat the Blues to get to the trophy. It could not have been better than that. It’s such a sweet memory.”
Manchester United was one of the only two clubs that Brown represented in his career. Sunderland was the other one. He joined Sunderland pretty late when he was past his peak.
