Nani set for shock departure?

Even though he may have found his fair share of enemies in the Premier League, there is no doubt that Nani has become a hugely influential player for United over the past few years. However, after his performances took a turn for the worst towards the back end of last term, reports are now claiming that United are looking to cash in on the Portuguese star with just two years remaining on his contract.

It would be fair to say that Nani split opinion when he first joined the club 2007 and spent the majority of his early Old Trafford career standing in the shadows of compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo. However, over recent seasons he has shown massive improvement and arguably became United’s biggest asset at one stage. Despite the above, it’s thought that United are now considering the future of the 25-year-old after he finished last season in such poor fashion.

The speculation has stemmed from The Sun and while newspaper gossip should never really be taken too seriously, the fact that Nani has less than two years remaining on his contract seems strange. The paper have supposedly obtained comments from an individual close to the club, with the source saying, “The club did not think his form at the end of last season put him in a very strong bargaining position over a new deal. Right now United are happy to leave it until next summer unless his demands are dramatically dropped. But they won’t sell unless silly money comes in.”

While speculation will continue to rumble on about the player’s future, it looks very likely that he won’t be included in Sir Alex Ferguson’s starting eleven against Fulham on Saturday. Nani had an exceptionally poor game against Everton and following on from that, United are expected to replace him with Ashley Young.

ANDERSON MIGHT BE REPLACED

With the dust barley settled from the end of the season which saw the title taken by Manchester City, Alex Ferguson has already gone to work on scouting potential transfers to strengthen his United side in order to recapture the premier league trophy from their rivals.

A key area Ferguson has highlighted that is in need of strengthening is the centre of midfield. With an abundance of ball winning midfielders such as Carrick, Fletcher and Anderson, the Red Devil’s manager will be hoping to bring some creativity to the centre of their team.

Part of this problem has been the relative failure of Anderson to perform consistently at a high level. Anderson joined for a deal over £20million and has not really justified that price tag since arriving at Old Trafford. He has not been the creative spark that Ferguson had intended him to be and with recent injuries keeping him out of the side the 24 year old may be struggling to stay at the Manchester club for much longer. With transfer rumours rife of incoming players, many have backed Anderson to be outgoing in an attempt to balance the books.

It is believed that United will sign attacking midfielder Shinji Kagawa from Borussia Dortmund as the player has already refused to extend his contract at the German club, and so Dortmund will want to sell the player before losing him under the bosman ruling. Equally the likelihood of the Wesley Sneijder transfer saga finally coming to an end seems more likely as he has declared interest in a move to Old Trafford. With these stars coming in many predict that 24 year old underperformer will be sold with interest coming from Spain. If he were to leave Anderson would most likely be sold in January after new signings have had time to settle.

ANDERSON STILL SUFFERING

Anderson has been suffering from injury problems. He has injured his knee on 2nd of November 2011. The match was against Otelul Galati, in which he has suffered this injury.

Two years ago this particular Brazilian mid fielder has undergone a severe operation. The player went for this operation forcefully. He was suffering from certain ligament problems. The treatment was done in Portugal and it was quite successful. After this treatment the cruciate ligament damage was healed and slowly Anderson came back to the field in proper form.

During the match of 2nd November, initially it looked to be a minor injury. Even Sir Alex Ferguson said that he thought that it was a mere injury and Anderson will recover it before the next match. But later it seemed that the injury turned to a severe one. Soon, the mid fielder was sent to Portugal where he went for treatment two years back. The doctors said that this time no surgery was required but also added that he cannot enter the field before the end of February 2012.

On the other hand Sir Alex does not have his secondary mid fielder Tom Cleverly. Tom is also out of the field as he is suffering from an ankle injury. So now it’s a big question about who will play in the mid field position for the ManUnited.

Anderson in a recent interview said that he is slowly recovering from the injury problem and is quite happy to be present in the first practice session. He has assured the Man United fans that, soon he will be seen on the field. Even Sir Alex and his team mates want Anderson to join them on the field very soon. Sources have said that he will be joining the field after he passes the fitness test later this month.
